Department of Liquor Control Launches Award-Winning Beers from Bell’s Brewery
The Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control (DLC) will welcome Bell’s Brewery products to its inventory this month. Inventory will include Bell’s Two Hearted Ale, Amber Ale and Oberon Ale.
The American Homebrewers Association voted Bell’s Brewery’s Two Hearted Ale the Best Beer in America last summer, for the second year in a row. The growing brewery expanded sales to most of Maryland during the summer of 2015.
Bell’s management recently visited DLC’s warehouse and they were impressed with the recent advancements.
“This has been a long time coming,” said Matthew Moberly, Bell’s vice president of sales and marketing. “We are very excited to partner with the Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control and Buck Distributing to bring Bell’s beer to the County. With this partnership, Bell’s beer will have fully arrived in the great state of Maryland.”
The DLC has made a number of changes within the last two years with the addition of a new director, Bob Dorfman, who has extensive experience in the hospitality industry. One of Dorfman’s focuses has been the warehouse, which had not seen reinvestment in the years before he arrived.
Warehouse changes included adding technology, racking, replacing decades old delivery trucks and moving from a 48-hour-cycle to a 24-hour-cycle. The DLC won national acclaim this past fall, receiving an award for its warehouse modernization initiative.
“Bell’s makes great beer and we’re excited to welcome them to Montgomery County,” said Dorfman.
Starting this month Bell’s Brewery products will be available for order by the nearly 1,100 private businesses in the County and at DLC’s 25 retail stores.
