Montgomery County Recreation to Host Strathmore’s Bloom Concert Series

Tickets are now available for the Bloom 2019 Concert Series at the new Good Hope Neighborhood Recreation Center, located at 14715 Good Hope Road in Silver Spring. The concerts are part of a unique collaboration and partnership with Montgomery County Recreation and Strathmore.

The concerts are free, family-friendly and scheduled for the second Saturday of every month from April 13 to August 10.  There are two indoor concerts and three outdoor concerts scheduled as part of this live music series. Beginning on June 8, the concerts will move outdoors.

“We are excited about this partnership, which brings the arts to our new neighborhood recreation center,” said Montgomery County Recreation Director Robin Riley. “The center’s new gymnasium was designed for live music and features theatre-style seating for 200, acoustic treatment on the walls, special lighting and more.  Music lovers are in for a treat.”

Chris Urquiaga headlines the inaugural concert at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, which will feature pop and R&B combined with Latin rhythms.

“Partnerships are fundamental to the success of Bloom and we’re delighted to partner with Montgomery County Recreation to bring the community this exciting series of concerts and classes,” said Strathmore CEO Monica Jeffries Hazangeles. “We believe that the arts should be accessible to everyone, and sometimes we need to plant the seed—by introducing a new arts program in schools or putting on a community concert, but more often, we are the water or the sun, helping existing resources, artists, expertise, and promotional support to thrive where inspiration and passion for the arts are already present.”

The Bloom 2019 concert series also features:

May 11, Piotr Pakhomkin, 2 p.m.June 8, Christie Dashiell, 6 p.m.July 13, Wytold, 6 p.m.Aug. 10, Josanne Francis, 6 p.m.
